You can get battery, usb, or almost definitely wall plug. The only thing to be careful of, make sure that the lights are in a helpful spot before you place them. If they are facing you a lot of times it will just blind you if you are using it as a light source (not always). I set something similar up and ended up just buying a spot light/desk lamp that I could attach to the wall but was easily accessible. I personally enjoy my rgbs as accent lights and background lighting, but I don’t use them for being able to actually see. Good luck OP!
Edit: I did something like this but it was on my wall. Obviously there are tons of options and this was the first I saw. Swing Arm Lights, LED Desk Lamp with Clamp, 9W Eye Caring Dimmable Lamps, Tim… https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QJWR614/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_api_glc_fabc_wwH8FbP15A40K

No not crazy and you have me thinking about using the second of a pair of little panel lights I got for zoom meetings over my table.
Right now my sewing room has two dim sconces, a decent florescent right over the table (also the task light for the dish pit in the kitchen) two of the small led flexible lamps for industrials and an led strip lamp: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QJWR614/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_imm_t1_pRVSFbGDEQR6F?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I have the little ones on each side right down by the needle bar.
I’ve never added lighting and regretted it. I do like the adjustable temp on the led.
