My husband has been a goddamn snorer for years. We didnt have insurance at the beginning of our relationship so he couldn’t go get it checked, and we lived in a studio. There was no escape. So I came up with a solution:

These sleep headphones work great at blocking out noise if you turn on some white noise. If his snoring is REALLY bad, I’ll put in ear plugs too. Granted, we have a living room and couch now, so if he really bothers me, I’ll kick him to the couch, but I haven’t had to do that in awhile.

You might try listening to podcasts! They help my brain:

  • attend to something other than my racing thoughts
  • feel “entertained” while I am sleeping.
  • have a more proper circadian rhythm since I don’t have any light on
  • relax (I listen to something positive and nice like America’s Test Kitchen, not like Dan Carlin’s Hardcore History which I love but is too disturbing for sleepy-time)
  • trigger sleep – now I hear the America’s Test Kitchen intro and get sleepy

Options:

  • Listen with your computer screen turned off
  • Send to Bluetooth through speakers or an Amazon Echo
  • If you have dorm-mates or a SO, try these

I use this

this

one. I’ve been using it for some years now. There are newer Bluetooth ones I’ve never tried because the wire is not an issue at all and Bluetooth annoys me sometimes. They last me about a year, then I just get the replacement speakers and slip them into the headband.

I tried the bluetooth and the wired versions of the headbands and the wired version has a flatter speaker for better comfort. The sound quality is what you expect which isn’t great but produces sound at least. https://www.amazon.com/CozyPhones-Headphones-Speakers-Meditation-Relaxation/dp/B014T3QLBA

I have to use a white noise machine app and sleep headphones like these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B014T3QLBA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_bSRSBbXHNH69G

With the headphones playing that white noise directly in my ears it blocks out all other noise. I was even able to sleep through an exes sleep apnea sometimes. The only problem is now I’m completely dependent on them and can’t sleep without them.

What are struggling with?
I’m obsessive about headphones. If you listen to audio while falling asleep maybe try something like cozyphones, I’ve got the Bluetooth version and use them almost every night.

I purchased these not too long ago.

They’re not amazing but they definitely help and are comfortable to sleep on, and you could probably wear earplugs with them. I know there’s some bluetooth types available as well.

These are my favorite https://www.amazon.com/dp/B014T3QLBA/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_api_i_oVzlFb

They do have wireless ones from other companies if that’s more your thing.

I’ve tried a few and they’re all mostly similar. If you want some that plug-in to your phone, these are decent: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B014T3QLBA

All the ones I’ve seen still have speakers that are not super comfortable if you sleep on your side, but they’re not too bad. I hope someday someone will make some super thin/comfortable ones.

Not earbuds, but I’m a fan of these headband things

These cheapo earbuds are great if they fit you. Zero or negative profile earphones like the Shure 215 or Mee M6 should work as well.
