I’m looking to get a mech keyboard. The corsair strafe specifically but I don’t know which key switches I want yet so I’m gonna go somewhere to see if they have any I could try out. I’m thinking either reds or browns

If you want a gaming keyboard you MUST get a Mechanical Keyboard, if you get a Mechanical Keyboard you MUST get CherryMx keys. (this is my opinion but i think most people would agree with it)
Sadly adding RGB to a Mech with CherryMx is not that cheap, thats why i recommend /r/mechmarket where they sell used Mechs.

Orings can be added to CherryMx switches, they might fit any other razer or chinese switch, but you would have to ask someone that actually has added them to that specific brand/model
They dampen the sound and make the “run” be shorter, i havent used them, but there are people that swear by them.
Ask around in /r/MechanicalKeyboards those guys know their stuff and will be more than capable on guiding you.

Really? I can’t seem to find any that have MX Browns that are under $100.
edit: Excluding refurbished, these are the cheapest Corsair mechanical keyboards with RGB that I can find on Amazon/Newegg: keyboard 1 keyboard 2
I still think this Cooler Master offering is in the ballpark of Corsair’s equivalents.

this is the exact model https://www.amazon.com/CORSAIR-STRAFE-Mechanical-Gaming-Keyboard/dp/B014W1YRC4

After two years I finally got myself the Corsair Strafe RGB I always wanted when Amazon had a few refurbished ones for $70.
I already had a mechanical keyboard, a Drevo Tyrfing which was fantastic, but the RGB is soooo pretty.
With Corsair Effects Engine I can turn it into a visualizer when playing music.
And there’s something different about the keys compared to my last mechanical, both reds, but the Strafe just feels blazing fast when I’m typing. Damn I love this thing.
·
There’s always the Strafe.
Edit: here’s the refurbished version of the K65 RGB, only $80.

The Corsair Strafe retails around $130. I’m not sure what you’re referring to

It’s the first question.
·
Thought on which Corsair RGB keyboard I should buy?
Corsair Strafe RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard, Backlit Multicolor Led, Cherry MX Brown
OR
Corsair Gaming K70 LUX RGB Mechanical Keyboard, Backlit RGB LED, Cherry MX Red

The G502 is awesome! I would recommend you also check out the Corsair STRAFE RGB (https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-STRAFE-Mechanical-Gaming-Keyboard/dp/B014W1YRC4?th=1)

Here go to the first review and look at the picture that is compared to the BlackWidow. Everything just seems faded for some reason.
·
Anyone have any experience with this keyboard?
Just looking to upgrade from a cheap Cooler Master keyboard.

All the full size ducky’s in MX Brown are sold out on mechanicalkeyboards.com 🙁
- Das Keyboard 4 Professional
- no backlight
- more of a professional look
- Corsair STRAFE
- full RGB backlight
- gamer look
- Corsair K70 RGB
- similar to the STRAFE
- CoolerMaster Quickfire XTI
- no backlight

In terms of quality (others please chime in if you disagree) I think it goes like this starting from the best: Filco, Das, CoolerMaster, Corsair, WASD.

This. Don’t get red switches if you want it to be silent. Browns and clears good.

Got it for a good price at best buy. This is still a decent deal for a great keyboard. Also I love the cherry mx brown switches. Its not too loud but still has the feel. That old antage comes to mind you get what you pay for.. Dont go for those cheaper keyboards just to get a mechanical one. Corsair is a solid company and I only trust their keyboards.

Here it is http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Mechanical-Keyboard-Multicolor-CH-9000094-NA/dp/B014W1YRC4
I’m sure the corsair website has them too. It’s a STRAFE RGB
