This is my keyboard that I picked up for cheap, I’m not a big fan of RGB crap and was hoping to get rid of it. I was told the bottom row is non-standard though which a little bit of a bummer.

I think the Corsair K70 is pretty popular, and that has RGB lighting:

But yeah, money… like I said, the main thing you’d be missing out on is the key cap market. If that’s not a concern, and you want the backlighting, I’d say pull the trigger on the G910.

I found this one on amazon. It kinda looks like it has all the things I’m interested in. I’m not sure on switches yet.

Yes. That keyboard is a mechanical keyboard which is why it costs so much. It’s going to be different than your typical keyboard in terms of feel. It will feel a lot better and you can feel when the key registers your input. It looks like the razer keyboard uses razer switches which is the component under the key that senses your input when you push down on it. The industry standard is Cherry MX. Razer is using their own and they’re not as responsive as the Cherry MX switches. If you just want a mechanical keyboard that can do all the colors like that, I can recommend a similar keyboard that uses Cherry MX switches which are superior to the Razer switches. At around the same price as well.
Here is the keyboard I recommend if you want a similar one that has cherry mx switches

Corsair Gaming K70 RGB LED Mechanical Gaming Keyboard – Cherry MX Red (CH-9000068-NA) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00N2ROO2S/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_bQ4svb1QCGHPD
They all have been released in all three switches blue, brown, and red. When you add it to cart in Amazon you should be able to pick from any of them.

I find the case to be pretty sturdy. This is probably going to be stupid but if you try to push the case on the lower half it would be pretty hard to knock over. If you were to push at the top it takes quite a bit but will tip if given the enough force. So if a cat really really used its feet on the top side of the case for jumping off there is a potential of it tipping but that cat would have to be jumping for its life/quite scared. The top grill, using my hands, pushing on it will flex a bit (not horribly). The amount of force to get it to flex I don’t think a cat can exert.
EDIT: Also that keyboard is on a little sale. http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Gaming-Mechanical-Keyboard-CH-9000068-NA/dp/B00N2ROO2S/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1429101837&sr=1-1&keywords=corsair+k70+rgb

Many keyboards use Kailh switches, the ones Razer uses. My recommendation for an RGB keyboard would be the Corsair K70. It uses better, more reliable switches than the Logitech, and like I’ve previously mentioned, offers much much more customization. I can’t recommend getting Cherry MX compatible switches enough, you’ll regret it if you dont.

Currently running this keyboard, sadly a few months ago I spilled something on it and the ESC key no longer works even after disassembling and cleaning it. Rest of the keyboard still works like a dream but I’m still looking to replace due to the annoyance. Now iCue allows me to rebind the ESC key to my Tilda key or w/e else I want to rebind to, so for a while I was fine and used my Tilda for Esc. However with the most recent update to iCue it is no longer allowing me to rebind Esc.
With all that being said, what is a natural successor to this current keyboard. Ideally same build design and same key types. I would just order this one again but it seems like its out of stock.

Mine is this model.

I found this on amazon in MX Red. If you can find the model number of the one with the right switch and then search google for that you might find some options.

Price a bit high on the keyboard, seeing as it sells for 166$ new.
·
What are the switches on the K70? Would you consider selling separately? BTW, that price is really high, Amazon Link $40 cheaper and BNIB.
·
Corsair RGB K70? It’s a little pricier (+ ~ $40), but has all the working features.
·
So you like computer and tech stuff? Why not go balls to the wall and get a RGB k70? Or a G502? Or maybe you’re feeling really high roller and feel like its time for a graphics upgrade

Your preference on switches is usually very subjective, but MX Reds are usually regarded as the “best” (Again, subjective) for gaming, but horrible for typing. I’d definitely advise getting a switch tester so you can see what type of switch you like, but that may bring your budget down a bit.
Here’s a link to a sampler: http://www.wasdkeyboards.com/index.php/products/sampler-kit/wasd-6-key-cherry-mx-switch-tester.html
Many people would recommend the K70, and while it’s not a keyboard I’d personally go for, I will go with them in recommending it. It also doesn’t stretch your price barrier quite as much as my first recommendation.
If you also do a lot of typing, brown switches would likely be your best bet. Unfortunately, the K70 RGB with Brown switches is above your price point.
Here’s a link to the non-RGB version:

Again, it’s all subjective on which switch is best. Good luck!
·
yeah. i loved that one a lot, i’m using this one now.
