The porcupine ceases for me after a few weeks or so
but re stubble, I really loved this thing while I was keeping it short:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004PXIR1W
it steps the length in small increments of 0.2mm up to 2mm, and then 0.5mm increments up to 5mm, without having to futz about with different guards 👍

Here , the i-Stubble
I actually bought it because of how much he said he likes it, it gets the job done for me

Bought that one about 3 years ago.
There’s probably better options available now, but that one is cheap and it has an adjustable trimming height. I usually go 0.8mm to leave a little bit of stubble, preventing ingrown hairs.

I just shave using a stubble trimmer that cuts really short (0.4mm) since my skin tends to get pretty irritated with any kind of normal razor shaving. This is the one I use, though there are others I’m sure.

If you want to keep stubble, nothing beats the Conair I-stubble. I love mine.

This is what I use on my face. I typically keep a stubbly look on my face and wet shave my neck and upper cheeks. This trimmer allows you to really dial in the length. https://www.amazon.com/Conair-for-Men-I-Stubble-Grey/dp/B004PXIR1W
