Currently have CM Storm QuickFire Rapid but it’s breaking.

Any recommendations for a wired Cherry Red switch TKL with USB port that’s easily accessible because I have to constantly disconnect my keyboard. Need media keys (at least volume) as well. Don’t care about RGB at all or colors/style.

Under $100 please.

I don’t go for tons of lighting and enjoy a nice clean keyboard. I use a Coolermaster Quickfire Rapid with MX browns (is available with MX reds and others). It is capable of handling anything you throw at it, but is not a light show. It is also very reasonable in price: https://smile.amazon.com/Storm-QuickFire-Rapid-Tenkeyless-Mechanical/dp/B007VDLVD4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1476301185&sr=8-2&keywords=coolermaster%2Bquickfire%2Brapid&th=1

That is one with MX reds.

If you want a nice clean toned down keyboard I highly recommend this. If you want a lightshow and/or a giant keyboard with an odd shape get a Corsair or Razer. Corsair is also not compatible with replacement keycap sets if you ever wanted to change them you would need to custom build your first row.

Go for the Quickfire Rapid, you get a standard layout more customisation options.

$66 post-rebate for an awesome mech, it’s tenkeyless but that’d surprise me of that is a deal breaker.

Just bought the thing myself, reds, very satisfied with the purchase.

Remember that every keyboard can have programmable hotkeys using Autohotkey.

My keyboard actually has 2 win keys and no right click key. Also adds a function key on the right hand side.

CM QuickFire Rapid is my keyboard.

TKL stands for tenkeyless.

They have it in Blue, Brown, and Red

If you want quiet, for for reds, they’re entirely linear and almost silent if you don’t bottom out. Browns are pretty good, a bit louder but they have a bump halfway down when it registers a key press. Blues are loud as fuck and it sounds like you wouldn’t like them.

The thing is, they have similar functions, but its mainly about the quality control of the products and the overall feel. The Logitech has a higher quality feel to it as well as having a higher quality construction.

Other boards that you can look at are Ducky and Cooler Master. Ducky are generally going to be more expensive, and Cooler master has some that are more expensive, but the quickfire rapid from Cooler Master has a lower price and is available in blue, brown, and the linear red switches.

something like the keycool 84 (on massdrop i think), the noppoo mini 84… get mx red or browns on them. light keys that are easy to press down.

edit: or compromise on size and get this which is a little bigger but cheaper http://www.amazon.ca/dp/B007VDLVD4/

as i mentioned earlier, compromising is needed. if you want all the features you list, it gets expensive quickly.

I hate to plug a potential competitor in this thread, but CMStorm makes very nice keyboards for ~80%. I’ve had my Quickfire Rapid tenkeyless for 2 years with no sign of wear and tear. nothing too fancy, just a solid mechanical keyboard.

You would need some thick orings about 2mm tall. Those keycaps are keycool gradient keycaps by the look of it.

Huh, strange… the quickfire rapid I found on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007VDLVD4 didn’t seem too awful to me, but maybe the red plate is worse in person. When you say “gamer logos and visible screws, I think of this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077X93B7M/

As far as actually finding a keyboard, I searched through Amazon and found nothing with genuine Cherry brand MX brown switches. Used keyboards on Ebay or r/mechmarket are probably your best bet.

I actually prefer tenkeyless/60% boards so I have this one: https://www.amazon.com/Storm-QuickFire-Rapid-Tenkeyless-Mechanical/dp/B007VDLVD4?th=1. From what I’ve seen and heard, you can’t go wrong with cmstorm, good build quality with a low price.

IMO this one and if you want you can make it programable by swapping the contorller out and have unlimited maccos to you liking.

This is excellent, very detailed.

I’d recommend the Cooler Master Quickfire Rapid. It’s kind of a go-to TKL entry level keyboard, great reliable build quality.

This Rosewill keyboard is also a nice cheap mech kb that’s full size.

First switch I tried was brown. I got a Cooler Master QFR with browns (Phenomenal keyboard if you dont need a 10-key)

My girlfriend uses MX Reds via this exact rosewill keyboard from OP. I have always considered them a more feminine/delicate switch. Meaning no disrespect

Now, I prefer MX Clears. They are like browns but a stiffer spring and a more pronounced “bump” that needs to be overcome before the switch will actuate.

Here’s my baby

do you have any size preferences? these are all close within your budget:

60%: V60 (dual LED, blue and red)

80%/Tenkeyless: CM Storm Quickfire Rapid (Red backlighting is only on the cherry mx red model

100%: Rosewill Apollo

Cooler Master QFR $59.99 after $20 MIR with cherry MX reds. Great starter mechanical keyboard.

REFURBISHED G502 Mouse $48.99. The G502 is one of the best gaming mouses out there. It’s a great deal if you don’t mind buying refurbished. Keep in mind they have gone on sale and are brand new often for ~$50. Just check /r/buildapcsales

This would be my recommendation. Now, I’m aware it’s $10 more than what your price range states, but i’ll try to make a case for it. The Quickfire Rapid is manufactured by Costar, the same OEM as Filco, so it’s solid as a brick. It’s also comes with a removable Mini USB cable, so you can get aftermarket cables, unlike with the Ganss. Looking further into it, it appears you can get it for exactly $80 in grey here

Cooler Master QFR Brown Edition. If you want backlit you have to pay a $40 premium for the QFR-i.
