In this picture (from this listing), they look like regular RCA to me. (I’ve never heard of mini-RCA, but I’ll assume that’s just a terminology issue.)

I don’t see any reason at all why you couldn’t extend it. Since it’s a speaker-level signal, the proper way to do it is with speaker wire, which is heavier (usually around 18 AWG). A patch cable will have thinner wire, so it’s really not ideal.

But it may be harder to find a cable that has speaker wire with RCA connectors (one male, one female) like you’d need. In a pinch, a patch cable might work OK.

Or you could make your own cable if you’re inclined. Either solder or connect this and this together with speaker wire.

Hello everyone,

So I have a couple of questions about these old speakers i’ve found in the basement (ROKSAN ROK One LOUDSPEAKER SYSTEM SERIAL No.: 200485). https://www.roksan.com/en/blog/the-rok-one-is-released/

My dad used them a long time ago. They still work I just don’t have any cables or anything really accept the speakers.

So my question is what would i need to get them running? What Cables do I need? Do I need a DAC? Maybe a subwoofer for more bass?

  1. I don’t really have a budget honestly, just wondering if it’s worth it to use these speakers or just buy new one like these: https://www.thomann.de/gb/kali\_audio\_lp\_6.htm I should also probably mention that I’m from germany.

  2. Not entirely sure what i’m looking for to be honest.

  3. I will be using them in a relatively Big room with a few meters (like 1-3m) away from the speakers.

  4. I currently own the BOSE Companion 3 Series III Multimedia Speaker System: https://www.amazon.com/Bose-Companion-Multimedia-Speaker-System/dp/B00064X4QM I Would like to upgrade from these speakers and keep the Bose speakers for Movies etc.

  5. A Phone or Laptop/Computer

  6. I’d only use the speakers for music and nothing else. I mainly listen to Hip Hop but also Classic Rock etc. I really like bass. I have a collection of digital flac songs. So there’s no need for a CD Player really.

  7. Yes, I’m willing to buy used if it’s significantly cheaper.

Thank you very much for taking your time, I know that I probably sound like a complete noob and to be honest, I am 😀

  1. I believe this is my motherboard. I built the PC a while ago and only started having this problem recently, so I’m not 100% sure this is the correct one, but it should be.
  2. These are my speakers. I replaced the cable connecting the speakers to the tower, in case that was the problem.
  3. My headphones are bluetooth, and the receiver is connected to a USB port. There is no issue when using the headphones.
  4. I don’t use a microphone for anything.
