Does the extra $$$ for the bonavita go towards accurate temperature control?

Assuming the water in my current drip comes out around 200 degrees, and isn’t over or under heating, any other benefit to that machine?

yeah, but as a certifiable coffee snob I feel obligated to point out that the most common kind of coffee maker is not very good at its job in the price range most people expect to pay. Here’s mine.

Coffee is awesome. I need more.

I own a V60 and aeropress. I’m not suggesting these are impossible to use during college but for time saving I found the drip brew was quick and can brew lots of coffee (all nighters). I’ve heard this is THE best and affordable for drip brew https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005YQZT92/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_ombsvb0XNBVBZ. If you have the money I would get the new nespresso machine that brews an 8oz cup.

I doubt I would have agreed with this comment so much a year ago. But, then I bought the Bonavita (basically this with a glass carafe). And, I use the scoop from my Aeropress – 1 scoop of finely ground coffee for each cup I’m making.

I finally have strong coffee at home that is easy to make.

It’s made all the difference!

I have the glass Bonavita 1800 and it makes a really good cup.

The Capresso Infinity is sold for $69.99 by Kaldi’s Coffee. You can also get the metal-housed version of the Infinity for $90 (~$100 if you aren’t a member) from Costco, but at that point I’d probably just buy a Baratza Encore.

As far as drip brewers go, any of the SCAA certified machines should make a good cup. The Bunn Phase Brew is the cheapest at $90, but it doesn’t have a thermal carafe. The Bonavita BV1800SS is probably the cheapest SCAA certified brewer with a thermal carafe at ~$140.
