What is the opinion of Reddit about the
BLACK+DECKER 20V Max Handheld Vacuum, Cordless, Grey (BDH2000PL)?

I purchased the ‘pivot’ black and decker off amazon about a year ago. It’s good for cleaning the car, crumbs, quick pick ups. The battery lasts about 15 mins of straight use, but I only ever drain the battery when cleaning the car. I really like mine as a supplement to the big vacuum. It’s designed well, the battery works, and it is a great tool for around the house. Also, cleaning the filter is easy, you just take it apart, wash it, and let it dry.

The one you have a link to is pretty much the same thing so I’m sure it’s just as good, maybe slightly less effective if it doesn’t have the brush attachment.

Between every few rides using a handvac that I take with me. I recommend the Black and Decker Pivot 20V. Owned it for a couple of years now and it has served me well.

If you do get a handvac, make sure it has decent voltage and suction. The $20 8V vacs are entirely worthless.

The batteries do die after about 2 years though. They are very compact and decently strong. The one you mentioned is probably the best for car. I will rebuild my battery for it one day.

I also have a dyson v10 and a LG dyson clone and they do have better suction and hepa filtering so dust doesnt go back out, but they are on the bulkier size for the car.

This is the one I got. My dad has one at his house so I was familiar with it. My only complaint is the battery life isn’t the greatest, which is a pretty big deal.

I’ve been using this for a few months, quite strong and decent battery life. 110v only though.

For wall mounted dock vacuums you can just not mount the dock on the wall? I also have a Tineco S12 EX and just leave the charging dock on the floor under a low table. It has 2 replaceable batteries though so the vacuum itself can stay away from the dock.

If you’re open to a different Black and Decker model, I love the 20V Max Lithium Pivot Hand Vacuum. We have two of them (one for home and one for our family cottage). The battery lasts a long time and it’s pretty powerful for the money. Easy to clean as well.

I’d recommend this cordless vac from Black & Decker, it’s great, you can read the many positive reviews on Amazon too; I wouldn’t spend that much just to get a Dyson for the car.

I just use a hand vacuum. I don’t bother, but if one wanted to be extra careful, they could put down a towel and vacuum the towel afterwards instead of the floor/counter top. Plastic bags are getting harder to come by since they’re not allowed in my state’s grocery stores, and reducing our consumption of plastic is a good thing, anyway.

I’ve never seen or used one. The other fuller I linked uses a hose which nice for picking up your rocks and other large objects.

This vacuum is amazing. You will need to charge it at home but it’s a very powerful little vacuum.

Thanks for all that info. I dont plan on getting rid of my Kenmore canister, so if its been a week or two since my last vacuum and i really need to get in there, i’d use that. Between the long tube, and the hose, when i throw on the corner attachment i can get all the way back between and underneath my couches, fridge, stove etc. I just dont really look forward to using it, so i wanted something else that was smaller and cordless to use for the in-between vacuums.

I see it as I have two scenarios, commit to the two vacuum system, with the kenmore canister vac being my primary vacuum and have a secondary cordless for touch ups, or try and get something powerful enough to be my one and only. (I’d still keep the kenmore cause i have tons of closet space.)

You mention the Dyson V6 doesn’t perform well on carpets, and as you can see about half my floor is carpeted. If the $480 V6 Absolute (I’d spend the $ for the better one,) still doesn’t really cut it, and its only useful on the hard floors and countertops, then it makes it seem like the price isn’t really worth it. At that point, i might just resign myself to having to use the Kenmore Canister, and buy a cheaper, and even smaller cordless vacuum like the Black and Decker BDH2000PL 20V max cordless which seems to have tons of good reviews. But if the Dyson might have just enough suction to tackle some light carpet tasks, then i could imagine it being a good all around second vacuum. I’m a relatively neat person, so my place doesn’t usually get very dirty. But, something like a few spots on the carpet drive me crazy, which is why i want something i can grab real quick to do touch ups throughout the week.

I’ve come across one or two others that caught my eye while doing my research tonight, one is the Miele quickstep. Its not cordless, but its still relatively compact, so if the addition of the cord meant it had enough power to tackle all tasks, i’d consider it. Problem is, no motorized head for carpets, so despite increased power, might still underperform in that department. http://thesweethome.com/reviews/best-cordless-stick-vacuum/ likes the hoover air corldess 2 in 1, and that video with the kitty litter on the carpet shows it outperform the dyson easily. But, it doesn’t look like it does well with reaching into narrow areas, like between the stove and fridge.

So, all that being said, in your opinion, do you think I should just spend the $ on the Dyson, from a retailer that has a good return policy and take it for a test drive? I do still have my backup Eurka Easy Clean if i need to touch up the carpets. That’s what i pull out now when i dont want to use the big one.
