I have a pair of Beyerdynamic T1’s, Audio-Technica ATH-M50’s, and UE TripleFi 10’s, and I actually prefer the in-ear TripleFi’s over the other over-ear cans, especially for binaurally recorded videos.
The over-ear headphones introduce another sound stage on top of the one created by the binaural recording technique which takes away from the original recording, which makes me feel further away from the sound. The triplefi’s bring the sound as close to the eardrum as possible and I think they create a more accurate reproduction of binaural recordings.
And definitely foam tips!
