I can relate! i got diagnosed with Hashimoto’s at age 9, and I’m 30 now. My levels are where they need to be and I’m properly medicated like you. My skin and hair get really dry, especially in winter and in environments where you typically get dried out, like planes. My biggest bits of advice would be to drink water (and other things with majority water, like non-caf teas and seltzer waters and all that. My dietitian told me those count 🙂 )

I saw a big difference when I cut out acids and started using a hyaluronic acid serum and other moisturizing steps in my routine, so definitely try out the squalane oil (I use a rosehip seed oil). I’m getting over a pretty big bout of acne on my chin, and I do use a spot treatment on my spots, but no other acid really. I just find that my skin is a bit more sensitive to harsher products. I will usually mix up some oil and HA and pat it on my face and follow with Cerave PM for my face – you could try others, I’m just not that adventurous with moisturizer.

For your hands and body, maybe extra hydrating steps would help there as well? The last time I saw an estetician (who recommended an HA serum to me), she told me to also apply it to my neck and chest, so I figure it should work for legs, elbows, etc. (I got mine for $37 for 8 oz. on Amazon and it lasts me 2-3 months) I also use hand/body lotions, but I’m really not adventurous with moisturizer at all. For my hands, I have a Eucerin hand cream with 5% urea – it feels so nice and my hands really do seem to feel more moisturized after using it. I got it at Boots in London, but I’m based in the US, and I haven’t seen it in any of my local stores. For my body creams, I’m using up a large Aveeno tube and also a tube of the FAB moisturizer it seems everyone loves. I used it on my face and it tingled a bit, so I got scared off using it, but I will tell you I was 100% over exfoliated at the time so things may have changed since then.

Also wanted to add – if you are concerned about something and your doc doesn’t take it seriously, make them listen! Seriously, their jobs are to help people and make them feel better, and your skin is the largest organ on your body. Make a fuss about it and make them listen to you. If you don’t feel like something is right, it might not be, so trust your instincts.
