The original poster said US kettles were worthless due to the difference in wattage. That’s completely incorrect.

The linked kettle is faster than any US microwave. Boils roughly a liter in about 3.5 minutes on US electrical current. Not pointless like the original poster said at all. Remember – since our overall wattage is lower that affects ALL appliances. Our microwaves hover at 1000 watts, so a 1500 watt heating element intended for boiling will be faster than a microwave. You shouldn’t be comparing our kettles to yours – you should be comparing our other methods of heating to our electric kettles to determine if they are useful for Americans, since we can’t get your kettles.
