I wanted to get one but just didnt want to spend the money on the BenQ light bar just to find out that I dont like it. But after a year of use on this amazon one, its damn awesome. I start work pretty early and some late nights, its nice to be able to turn on a light a dim it down. also the 3 color temps are awesome. This one is pretty well built bar itself is aluminum and the clamp is heavy plastic. On sale right now for $39

Got mine in Asia, but it’s this same model on Amazon. Looks to be on sale at 50% off which ends up to $19. I have no idea how legit this is, but if it’s really the same one I have, then that’s a pretty solid deal

I recommend this light bar for the monitor. It’s pretty cheap but has a premium feel to it.

The one I have is this, it has warm, bright white, and a mix of the two. Its brightness is adjustable and is powered by a USB-C connection. The great thing is it’s great quality without breaking the bank, hope it helps!
·
I have this, it’s relatively cheap while it feels superb. It has a warm, less warm, and white setting and has adjustable brightness. It uses a USB-C connection to power.
·
I actually just found the right placement for the light and used double sided tape so it won’t move because I was having issues clamping with the shell of the monitor being too wide.
·
You could perhaps get a monitor light bar?. Unrelated, but if desk space is an issue, maybe a monitor arm too
·
This one. No issues so far and the build quality is great. I tried using it on my girlfriend’s monitor but the bezel was too thin, so keep that in mind. Regardless, it would be relatively simple to place something on the VESA mount that could hold the lamp.

No they don’t cause glare, they adjust slightly to direct the light down onto the desk. I like them a lot. My desk feels dark without them now. A lot of people opt for the more expensive BenQ lights, but I got these:

Yes the lamp is very comfortable for reading, you can adjust the brightness and temperature!

Looks like https://www.amazon.com/Baseus-Computer-Adjustable-Brightness-Temperature/dp/B08CXL3YQ8
It has QC problems, coil whine on low brightnesses and can go undead (stop working at lower brightnesses but suddenly working again) if rapidly switch light temperature.
·
A. I don’t eat Cheetos at the desk, and wash my hands like we are in a pandemic.
B. It is a light https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08CXL3YQ8
C. It is just a skin, I was going to buy a new Face Plate but the reviews were just so/so.

·
I did ran into an issue with my BASEUS monitor light not working with this monitor due to the round hump on the back was interfering with the overhang of the monitor light. If your webcam have an overhang support design, it might not work. Here’s the link to my monitor light.
·
I only got it yesterday, so I can’t speak to the longevity. The build quality seems excellent as it’s all aluminum. Given that this light is less than half the price of the BenQ model, I was a bit skeptical, but reviews have said it holds up.

It worked well for me but I wouldn’t recommend it. all my friends who got them complained about how it aggressively clamped on the screen. My screen is a little bit curved so that might play a factor

Some quick details on where I did MANY things on the cheap.
- The planters on the shelves are concrete squares (about $6 ea.) with round pots inside (about $5 each) from Home Depot. I painted them using left over paint from the room.
- The clock was dark wood (about $18 at Walmart). I removed the hardware and painted the wood using left over paint to lighten it up some.
- The carpet, not my first choice, from a discount bin at Home Depot cut down to size with scissors (about $70)
- The floor lamps about $40 at the time. Philips Wiz RGB lights in them ($8).
- The drapes are about $18, on $9 shower curtain rings so that they slide easier across the rod.
- 2-$60 Ikea tables on 3-$20 tressels, and one set of Alex drawers (about $60).
- “gaming chair” $150 (I wasn’t paying $400 for a chair). Came with lumbar support, I added neck support (not seen) for about $13. Very comfy.
- The desk lights are these for $40 (not the $80 ones) : https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08CXL3YQ8/
- The futon was where I knew I would have to spend since I wanted this exact one in this exact color. $500. The next week this size and color was listed at $1400. It has since gone back to its normal price of about $650. The most I’ve ever spent on a futon, but I thought it was worth it to have a decent background for my video calls, and somewhere to take a break or a nap.
With the Computers and other electronics I saved where I could, but it was all put together over time. My PC is 4 years old, still running great. I’ve done some RAM, fan, and storage upgrades over the years. I added the Mac Mini recently when it went on sale for $50 less.
This is what it looked like before COVID lockdown and restrictions. No futon, brown carpet, mismatched tables, using an old bucket as a trash can. And that was fine for me until I was spending every day, all day in here.https://imgur.com/a/67xCTNt
·
- I’m currently using 2-LG monitors that have 1-Display & 2-HDMI inputs. I have my PC plugged into Display Port, and M1 Mac Mini plugged into the HDMI ports. LG settings toggle is easy as pie. When I need to switch between computers I just change the input of the monitor.
- I use a Razer “gaming” keyboard and a Logitech trackball. I use Synergy to share them across OS’s ( I also run Ubuntu on the PC and it works across all 3).
https://symless.com/synergy
You can set up whatever shortcuts you want on just the keyboard, but I also have a Streamdeck and set one of the profiles up as shortcuts for my most used programs. - I use Phillips Wiz RGB lights on floor lamps around the room. On my desktop I have these:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08CXL3YQ8/ - I do both phone calls, and video conference calls. I’ve invested a little money to up my game for video calls, Mirrorless camera, decent lens, mic, lighting, and background furnishings. I also keep one of these around as a back-up. https://www.amazon.com/Jabra-2400-Mono-Wired-Headset/dp/B01090PEZQ
Wireless peripherals are too unreliable for video calls. For best quality, everything should be plugged in including your computer. - For phone calls I just use a decent Bluetooth earpiece. Works fine.
- Other advice? Make your space comfortable. Your home office and equipment that you use for work are the most important of everything you own. It needs to be reliable, productive, efficient, and you need to love working with it. These are the tools that you use to make money…the money that finances EVERYTHING else. Set yourself up with nice tools that you love working with.

I’ve been looking for a way to read while at my keyboard for a while now. Tried many things that were either not bright enough, or too intrusive. Been looking at monitor lights for months and the prices were around $80-$130 and up. Found these Baseus brand on Amazon for $40. They work!
