Look for a sciatica seat cushion – it made a huge difference for me. I have this one: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00AE9V3WQ/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_MSYFCJ3BY63QFWXDR7VA

Lumbar support (small pillow or towel behind your lower back) can help as well, but only if your shoulders can still rest on the back of the seat. If not, you either need a smaller lumbar support or a pillow behind your shoulders, too.

At her age, I would make sure you keep the caps away – some marker caps come off easily and become a choking hazard. You might be able to put the ones you aren’t using on something nearby where baby can’t reach. The usual markers are all non-toxic.
As for the floor pillow, have you tried one of those donuts or cushion? They make some designed just for tail bone pain. If you haven’t asked your OB about it, that may be helpful – seems like the pain should have resolved by now.

I was dying from SI joint pain around 30 weeks. It was in my lower back, especially on the right side.

Things that helped:

  • sciatica pillow for the office chair and drive to work

  • went to physical therapy and they taught me to tuck my hips under whenever I was changing positions from sitting to standing

  • massage + chiropractor

  • MUST sleep with a pillow between knees at all times

  • honestly, I think the kid changed positions. I woke up one morning feeling a ton better and haven’t had severe problems since.

Edited to add: link for pillow. formatting; I can haz bullets.

I suppose it can’t hurt to try sitting on one of these pillows if you think your lack of padding is the problem: https://www.amazon.com/Aylio-Coccyx-Cushion-Relief-Sciatica/dp/B00AE9V3WQ/ref=sr_1_3_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1483406100&sr=8-3&keywords=tailbone+pillow

I had the same issue with my tailbone at about the same time, and deal with residual back pain from surgery on my L5-S1. So, I’m no stranger to back pain. But not being able to sit made it really difficult to work my desk job. I would barely be able to drive home and then was not able to sit and eat dinner. My husband bought me this coccyx cushion from Amazon. Took a while for what felt like bruising to go down (maybe a week or two?), but now I can sit for a while with minimal pain. I still have to get up every few hours, and it’s a bit of struggle. But I also think that comes with being in my third trimester. Ha! Hopefully this will give you some relief.

Oh that sounds just awful 🙁 Glad those are gone at least. I’m so nervous about this second pregnancy/delivery experience.

The donut pillow helped after delivery for when I had to sit to nurse or pump. I kept it on my night time nursing chair – now I keep it in my car for longer drives.

I have this one at work. My butt definitely still hurts after sitting for too long. However, it’s much worse much sooner when I have to sit in the conference room for a long call or meeting or when we go out for a long lunch because I don’t have my stupid pillow with me. Definitely helps, but doesn’t completely relieve the pain. I also recently got one of those standing desks from IKEA in my office, which helps immensely when I just can’t sit any longer.

My coworker also injured her tailbone during labor and has been taking physical therapy. They’re having her do stretches and stuff and when she goes in every week they do massage on it – which she says is painful. From what I understand, it has a lot more to do with the muscle strength down there than just the bone itself.

My incision is still pretty large from my surgery in April, but because I had to go to class still I actually bought one of these. The gap in the back is so you’re not putting pressure on your tailboan/coccyx where the incision/cyst would be. It helps me drive and sit for longer periods. Just a suggestion!
