In my experience, maybe not entirely an empty quiet room, but things are muffled and harder to make out.

So, someone talking might just kind of sound like the Charlie Brown teacher, where you can’t really make out what they’re saying so it’s more just ambient background noise and less distracting.

I haven’t had any super expensive noise cancelling headphones, though, so maybe there are some better than I’ve used?

A company I used to work for provided me with these when I started

I also have a pair of Taotronics over the ear headphones that I can’t find anymore. I bought them off of amazon, but I think they got banned for rewarding buyers with good reviews recently.

I had a pair of these and they’re falling apart – they didn’t bug me, but they were a bit too warm. Same sort of idea, as far as ANC goes though right?

Lol, this is a funny thing to read, nostalgic really, however, I kind of know your feel, some of my headphones don’t fit over my turban and some of them do. Which type of turban do you tie? I wear audio technica which work well with my dhumalla, but my dhumalla isn’t really big compared to most. I wear these when I hit the gym and go on flights.

When I gamed, I used to use turtle beach px21, that used to fit well when I used to tie a Gol pugh, haven’t worn it since though since I don’t play games anymore.

Best bet is google oversized headphones and inquire, I find asking on amazon would give you the best results if no one here can provide answers for you

I would highly recommend these
http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATH-ANC7B-QuietPoint-Noise-Cancelling-Closed-Back/dp/B002HWJT1A
$125 is normal if you find them on sale which usually isn’t hard they can be found for under $100. They have solid sound cancelling and a good sound. Often compared to Bose Quiet Comfort and beat or at least equals it in quality but cheaper. I have had a set for 4ish year and they are solid.

I’d probably get a pair of noise cancelling headphones and a tablet.

Say something like

Audio Technica AUD ATH-ANC7B Audio-Technica ATH-ANC7B QuietPoint Active Noise-Cancelling Closed-Back Headphones – Wired

Fire HD 8 Tablet with Alexa, 8" HD Display, 32 GB

If you get the Fire HD tab, I’d sign up for a trail of Amazon Prime. That way you can take advantage of Prime Video, which lets you download and watch movies and TV Shows on the Fire HD for free.

You’d also be able to read books on it, your local library should have books you can “check out” for the kindle.

I got these 3 years ago, and they are really great. Bose apparently sued them over the circuitry used in these. http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATH-ANC7B-QuietPoint-Noise-Cancelling-Closed-Back/dp/B002HWJT1A

My lovely AKG k92 died after years of service, thought I’ll upgrade to noise cancelling ones.

Audio-Technica ATH-ANC7B

Creative HN-900

Which one would you recommend? Other recommendations welcome, but they absolutely have to be over the ear. AKG k92 were extremely comfortable, I would sleep in them on my side and be fine. How do you feel about the comfort of the ones above?

I’m on a budget and I need a pair right now so please don’t recommend anything above €100 🙂

Check out the Audio Technica ATH-ANC7b headphones for $99, I bought them based on TheWirecutter’s review. They are the best value for noise canceling and high isolation and have decent sound quality when the noise canceling is turned on, they are quiet with weak treble when it is off though. I mostly bought them because there is construction equipment idling outside my office window and it makes a big difference. I think they’d be great for planes. They take a single AAA battery, NiMH rechargeable works fine even though the manual says it doesn’t, I get more than one work week between charges though I don’t have them on all day.

Looking for something in the sub $120 range to wear at work. No IEMs please. I have DT 770s and absolutely love them but I don’t want to constantly carry them to and from work everyday. They’re also a little bulky so something with the same comfort and a little bit smaller would be great! I work in a cubicle so they need to be closed and not bleed a lot of sound.

I was thinking about the AT-ANC7Bs

Or Sony MDRV55s if they’re not too shitty

Looking for a good pair of noise cancelling headphones, at the request of one of my family members, to be used when flying on airplanes

She’s not a big audiophile or anything of that sort, so sound quality isn’t a topmost priority. I’d say comfort + ability to cancel noise is the #1 priority.

Not looking to spend more than $100

I saw these on Amazon from audio technica, but certain reviews complain about comfort which is why I’m hesitant to pull the trigger

Also added this into the mix:

Sony Ericsson mw600 bluetooth receiver (with microphone) and 3.5mm jack to plug in the headphones of your choice.

I plug in the Audio Technica ATH-ANC7b which, at the time of my purchase around 2010-05, was the best bang for buck noise cancelling headphones.

If they are the new iPhone head phones (iPhone 5+ I believe) they are actually decent for in ear head phones. Decent sound quality and they come with the phone. If you want actual headphones I second the guy above and reccomend Audio technica for best bang for the buck. I would highly recommend these
