Spend a few bucks more on the headphone and buy the Audio Technica ATH-A990Z instead. It is a better sounding headphone than the DT 770 Pro. It also does not have the piercing 7kHz mid treble spike that the DT 770 Pro has either.

ATH-A990Z would be my recommendation all day long. They have slgihtly forward mids and really shine with female vocals. The treble is relaxed and non-fatiguing, but it still extends well.
They have 2 weaknesses that I’ll mention and the first one is the bass response. It’s fine.. But if she’s looking for a bassy headphone, these are 1000% not it. The second one is the wing system. Some people love it, some people hate it. I personally love it and have always found them comfortable, but some people complain about them sliding down on their head(which can be fixed with a rubber band).
They’re on Amazon though, so free returns if they don’t work out.

I’m a gamer and know nothing of sound but the guys over at /r/buildapc gave me some suggestions to come to the pros here at r/headphones
I currently have the HyperX Cloud Pro Gaming Headset which for the price I have no complains about. The only reason I’m looking to get new headphones is that this headphones kinda suck at helping me hear footsteps and don’t get very loud.
Can you guys help me find the best headphones for around 400$. I have no problem going higher as long as I get the best set up possible.
My requirements so far are
- No mic is needed
- Closed back preferred unless open provide better sound quality
- Used primary for gaming (hearing footsteps lol)
- Durable if possible (Kids at my house might drop them once or twice but this is low priority over quality)
I don’t know to much about all the components I need to buy so if you can list them all in one post with the name to find on Amazon that would be really helpful.
What I kinda put together but I was told I need an amp.

Okay, I’m here looking for something pretty specific and I think you guys can help me. For the past 15 years I’ve been using the ATH-A900s and their derivatives and am extremely satisfied with them. I love the way they look, the way they feel, and the way they sound.
Problem is I’d prefer to use them for work and gaming but a desktop microphone does not work for me. A couple years back my wife bought me a ATH-ADG1X Open Back Headset as an alternative. Now, these are actually great, but the in-line sound control is failing and I need a new pair. I’d also prefer not to get another pair of open back headphones.
I’ve been looking into getting a BoomPro instead because I want to go back to my A900s, but they do not have a detachable cable. Therefor I’m looking alternatives to an ATH-A900 but with a detachable cable. The closer, the better!
Thanks for the help!
