It’s the oils or sweat in your hand, forearm, wrist, or other getting on the paper. These oils don’t always play nice with fountain pens or ink. I find that the more “absorbent” papers have an easier time dealing with this issue.

I use a sheet of blotter paper under my hand when writing on Tomoe River and sometimes Rhodia. It hasn’t been an issue with most other papers I use (Leuchtturm, Kleid, Midori, Cosmo Air Light, Archer & Olive).

Keep using the paper under your hand, or buy a digital writing glove. Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Articka-Drawing-Two-Finger-Reduces-Friction/dp/B07QMMQFYH/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?dchild=1&keywords=graphic+design+glove&qid=1617159719&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUExUENLQ1JLUExWTDUyJmVuY3J5…

Another commenter suggested avoiding the use of lotion on your hands, which is a great precaution to take as well.

Sorry I just thought that you are using small tablet, like me. I will say whatever case that ya manage to find, find one that has pockets, so you can store the stylus, the CDs, and other loose essentials. I dunno about the screen protectors, I like POSRUS (I dunno if you have an unsatisfactory experience with them). Last, but not least, buy a bunch of nibs, you’re gonna need them even if they go nub slowly, and an extra stylus (I had an accident earlier). Wish I can help better.

Honorable mention:

It’s an art glove that prevents smudges, never tried it. Heard that it’s useful. Maybe ya can have a bigger use than me, considering that you’re using those fancy screen size tablets.
