If a player already had a fat pack, this a decent idea, but the size is really more than most need. Most stores also stock BCW cardboard boxes and a 200-300 count box should carry everything easily while also being less than a dollar.

For life pads, there are tons of options but I currently use a Boogie Board. It’s a bit of a niche item and not especially cheap but I use it plenty outside of MTG. Do make sure not to get the sync version since it can store notes and that is not allowed at Competitive-level Events and up.
