food for thought, I use this cheap Amazon Basics bench and keep it in the shed with the barbell. It doesn’t take up too much space and is super lightweight so you can move it in and out pretty easily.

I know this is gonna seem super petty, but I’m lazy as fuck and don’t want to do half my lifts inside a cage and then be forced to OHP and potentially deadlift outside of it.
I am on board with the idea of spending more on a rack and making do with a flat bench though. The routine I was planning on following had incline bench, but I’m not attached to it. I can make or find a routine that doesn’t involve any incline. Think I should just go for this Cap rack + a solid adjustable or look for a better rack that ain’t a full cage + the Amazon basics bench.
Although the Amazon bench is only rated for 385 and I wouldn’t be surprised if I’m pushing that within 6 months.

I really want to. Having an in-home gym is a dream but I don’t think it’s in cards in my current situation. It’s a matter of space availability than anything else.
Do you have any experience with body weight workouts? Would something like dumbells or kettlebells be of any use without the bent?
edit: could something like this be useful?

Nah, the rack will hold up fine. With the bench it’s probably going to depend on what kind and what it’s made of. Any padding on top is the part to worry about. You can always do a weatherproof outdoor bench that isn’t necessarily designed for weightlifting. That was one option I considered.
The bench pictured here is actually back in my indoor gym. For outside, I use
this cheap one from Amazon. I wouldn’t trust it to hold up completely exposed to rain, but it’s also not the end of the world if it gets trashed

Check out Amazon Basics Bench. Coop did review for it, and seems legit for your purpose.

Honestly, I’d suggest getting the Amazon Basics flat bench ($55 shipped), and then if you want to upgrade later, you won’t have spent too much money. https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-WB-Flat-Weight-Bench/dp/B072Z1WN4S/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=flat+bench&qid=1613938042&sr=8-1

The well reviewed and cheap Amazon Basic bench is available…

Add in the Amazon Basic Bench if it ever comes in stock. $50 for a flat bench that is rated for 600 but tested over 1000 lbs. best budget bang for your buck.

I use this cheap Amazon Basics bench in my outdoor setup: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B072Z1WN4S/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I guess Amazon doesn’t sell them anymore, but maybe there’s a similar one or newer model. I paid $50 for it.
When it’s not in use, I keep it on a covered patio. If it rains hard, it gets wet. I’ve had it for about 2 years and it’s still in good shape.
I have a Titan T2 rack that’s outside and fully exposed. Rust hasn’t been much of a problem. I did spray down the J hooks with rusloleum spray paint and a layer of plasti-dip where they touch the bar.
I keep the barbell itself in a shed. It would probably rust if left out.

I have the Amazon Basics and Marcy flat benches. They cost around $60, are pretty stable, but unfortunately out of stock at the moment.

My recommendations for the cheap stuff you’re looking for:
Squat stands w/spotter arms: CFF Gen 2 Squat stands with spotter arms ~$185
Barbell: ISF Power Bar ~$175
Bumper Plates: ISF bumper plates (160lb set) ~$270
Bench: Amazon Flat Bench ~$50
Platform: Tractor Supply Co stall mat ~$40
So that’s a decent setup for $720 + shipping for high quality brand new gear. If you shop the used market I think you could do a bit better – especially if you go with iron over bumpers for weights.
Keep in mind a lot of equipment is sold out across the board due to everyone trying to build a home gym due to Covid-19. I would assume it’ll be a few weeks at least until things start coming back in stock.

Fringe Sport Squat Rack w/ Pull-up Bar and Amazon Flat Weight Bench would put you around 300.
