so would something like this one work? i want to be able to add more mics and then have the audio come directly through from the computer. i just dont know enough about these interfaces. also, if what i linked will work, do you know what type of cord i would need to buy for the audio from the computer to be ran through the interface into the feed? thanks for the help.

Cubase.
The “Elements” Version is not expensive.
Also there is a smaller “LE” Version that comes for free with some audio interfaces (if you need one, too):

If you start with the LE version, you can seamlessly upgrade to each bigger version if needed.

I am upgrading my set-up right now.

I have spoken to two very successful podcasters, and both say I need a dynamic mic with a mixer to get the best sound.

Already got the mic chosen, but they recommended two different boards.

Alesis – 129$ OR Mackie – 229$

To me, they look VERY similar.
