under $150 US, a portable wired headphone, build quality, critical listening (metal music and video editing) NOT muddy bass heavy
a local store is selling AKG 545 for $120 US, is this a good option? anything better for the task under 150 US?

Hey guys! I am most interested in these AKG K545 Headphones https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00E89ASQK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_JXjYxbPPJ5KNF mainly because of their portability. I would mainly use these with my phone to listen to FLAC-format music, but I may also use them with my computer when I play games and listen to music there. My question is, for the same (or similar) price, are there better middle balanced headphones with decent isolation? I would mainly be listening to the music out of the house, at school or on the bus.

- Budget – <$200
- Source – Macbook, iPhone, guitar amp
- Requirements for Isolation – I would prefer good isolation
- Preferred Type of Headphone – over-ear, closed
- Preferred tonal balance – not sure about this, refer to preferred music
- Past headphones – Apple EarPods, although there is not much about them that I’m looking for in the new headset
- Preferred Music – I listen to a lot of instrumentals, (indie) rock (for example Mumford & Sons)
Another thing I’d like to add is my preference of cups material, I prefer the material on Urbanite XL or HD 598 (linked below). In my past experience the pleather ones got all worn out in a year or two. If you have convincing reason that this is not the case, I’m willing to change my decision.
Also, I need a cable long enough, about 3m (10ft), preferably detachable. A plus would be inline control (compatible with Apple devices).
I’m thinking about adding a modmic later on so the headset should have room to fit it on.
From the headsets I’ve tried in stores so far, the headsets that I was interested in were AKG K545 and Sennheiser Urbanite XL and HD 598, although the latter are open and I don’t like that everyone around me can hear what I’m listening to. These are still among my top considerations, but I’d like to do a bit more research and buy something I’ll enjoy using for along time.
Edit: I also had a look at the Sennheiser Momentum, are they worth the extra money over my budget?
