If you want to just try out the split layout (before the UHK), I recommend getting one of these. I got one off eBay for just $50 and using it as the daily driver now. The integrated trackball makes it useful as a living room or backup keyboard too.

+1 to keyboards that have the left and right sides split up and angled. I’m using this Adesso keyboard that also doesn’t have a numpad, so the right-hand mouse is closer to the keyboard, so my right arm doesn’t have to go off at an unnatural angle.
I also recommend Vertical mice as they keep one’s wrist in a more neutral position than the traditional overhead mice do. That one really helped me, as I’ve had wrist tendinitis issues in the past. I have a left-handed and right-handed one and switch off.

I’m hoping something like this would be useful to you.

Love this! It seems like it has to be placed in a surface (ex: vs using it on my lap, which is something I actually do all the time). This is the best I’ve found so far, with that requirement, in mind:

Right, it’s NOT a pretty keyboard, but it’s the only solution that I’ve found to typing without moving my hands
