> Would you say the bean grinding machines are over complicated?

You’re not going to get an automatic bean to cup for lower than £200, and that’s when they’re on sale too. The lower DeLonghi models I can find on Amazon are currently £300.

I personally a few weeks ago got a second-hand Delonghi bean-to-cup from eBay for £150.

Amazon do this De’Longhi bean to cup machine for £200 as a seconds (click on “other buying options”). They are normally £300.

Tastes loads better than a pod machine is cheaper in the long run. My boss put them into all our offices and staff love them.

I’ve had both Nespresso and Dolce Gusto pod machines and have not been overly impressed with either. I moved on to a bean to cup machine (De’Longhi Magnifica) and it is far superior and makes excellent espresso. My favourite beans to go with it are Aromistico Napoli which is delightfully creamy, chocolatey and very full-bodied.

If you’re looking to lob £200 for a Nespresso, I’d seriously recommend you consider upping that to £300 for a Magnifica if you can afford it.

As for cleaning, it takes only a quick brushing out of stray grounds and a wipe with a damp cloth weekly and a rinse of the pressure head monthly in hot water, plus rinsing the drip tray each day, i.e. probably no more than 30 mins a month.

Got a Delonghi Magnifica (or ESAM 4200) on Amazon Warehouse Deals earlier this year for about €150.

Savage machine.. best purchase I’ve made in ages!

They are super easy to keep clean and maintain. Amazon usually has this on special at £199 every now and again
